Caboose Donated to WAAAM

WAAAM's been working on the rail road.

The Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum is proud to feature transportation in America from the Golden Age of Transportation and the Golden Age of Aviation. Missing from our collection of airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, boats and associated transportation artifacts has been representation of the rail road. This problem has been corrected with the donation of a 1968 Wide Cupola Blue Caboose.

With an eye to history, the museum volunteers used the old tools of the trade to get the tracks ready for the caboose. It was hard work but even the volunteers from Union Pacific who dropped off the rails for the tracks said we did an excellent job.

The caboose was actually donated back in May but it has taken months of planning and organizing to move such a large and heavy object. WAAAM would like to thank the many people who have donated their time and expertise to help retrieve this caboose. Special thanks to volunteers Randy Acree, Carl Smiley, and John Nesbitt for organizing this project and to Crestline, Union Pacific, and Ness and Campbell Crane for getting the caboose to its new home at WAAAM.

Return to home.
