Submarine Arrives at WAAAM

 

New Addition to Youth Discovery Center

Watch this video and see the arrival of a 21 foot, 3,560 lb. "mock-up" of a submarine, and its installation in WAAAM's Youth Discovery Center.

The submarine is a welcome addition to the hands-on discovery center, which is a work in progress at WAAAM.

It was created entirely out of recycled materials collected by Gary Fisher and friends. Construction took 4000 man hours.

Thanks to all who helped create this amazing new addition to WAAAM's collection.

Jackson's Ride the Gorge

 

Fundraiser for Osteosarcoma

WAAAM is so pleased to be able to host Jackson's Ride the Gorge for another year.

The bike-ride event is held each year in the Columbia River Gorge to raise funds in the fight against Osteosarcoma.

This year more than 400 people turned out for the event, and a great time was had by all.

One of the organizers for the event describes the course that the bikes travel as "breathtakingly beautiful."  

Another organizer says that WAAAM is a great venue for the event because it provides a safe place for people to congregate, parking is easy, and it's cool on the inside for when people finish the ride.

Ring Kings Car Club Visits WAAAM

 

Fundraiser for
Hospice of The Gorge and Relay for Life

A Hood River automobile club by the name of Ring Kings visited WAAAM on Saturday morning, July 17. More than a car show, the 80-plus cars that showed up were there to raise money for two worthy causes—Hospice of The Gorge and Relay for Life.

Vice president of Ring Kings Dennis Bailey said he's been organizing the car show for the past three years because he's both an avid car fan and an ardent supporter of the two non-profits.
