Second Saturdays

Please join us!  Ride in antique cars, watch the antique planes take off and land, eat ... drink ... be merry!

Join us the of each month Second Saturday, when WAAAM gets the engines running.

Second Saturday through the winter will be held Indoors. Weather permitting cars and airplanes would be taken outside. Otherwise, there will be indoor events including demonstrations, special exhibits & hands on experiences for the visitors.

Our antique aircraft, automobiles, motorcycles, tractors, military jeeps and engines all get their day in the sun when museum volunteers get to show visitors that this is not just a bunch of old stuff ... that life goes on for our artifacts!

What Our Director Has to Say

"A visit to WAAAM on a Second Saturday is bound to make you realize just how easy life is today. Take for instance, the process of starting a car. People don't even give it a thought these days, but in 1917, it may have taken a half an hour just to get the oil warm enough to crank a Model T's engine to life!

"Life was certainly slower in those days, and knowing about how life was then helps us appreciate so much more, what we have today.

"Please join us on a Second Saturday of the month ... or on any day ... and take a step back in time with us."

—Judy Newman, Museum Director

WAAAM's Second
"Second Saturday"
More fun than what should be legal! Join us next time.

It's hard to imagine that people attending this second "Second Saturday" could have as much fun as they had at the first Second Saturday... but they did!

Visitors got to see mechanical things being started, airplanes being flown, antique cars being driven.

Best of all, visitors got to see flights by the oldest flying Boeing aircraft, a 1928 Boeing Model 40C. On May 8 owner Addison Pemberton made a joint photo flight with the newest Boeing, the 787 Dreamliner.  Click to learn more about this historic aircraft

Ring Kings Car Club Visits WAAAM
Fundraiser for
Hospice of The Gorge and Relay for Life

A Hood River automobile club by the name of Ring Kings visited WAAAM on Saturday morning, July 17. More than a car show, the 80-plus cars that showed up were there to raise money for two worthy causes—Hospice of The Gorge and Relay for Life.

Vice president of Ring Kings Dennis Bailey said he's been organizing the car show for the past three years because he's both an avid car fan and an ardent supporter of the two non-profits.

Watch for more information about Ring Kings to be posted soon to this website.

Old beauty finds a new and permanent home.

The 1928 Stearman biplane that R.J. McWhorter lovingly restored and took to fly-ins throughout the Pacific Northwest until his death two years ago, made a historic flight to its new permanent home in Hood River.

The rare open-cockpit aircraft that was built as a mail plane is the newest addition to the Western Airplane and Automobile Museum.
